DESCRIPTION
Arequipa is the second most populous city in Peru, with 844,407 inhabitants according to INEI projections.
Arequipa is an important commercial center of Peru and is the second most industrialized city in the country. Its industrial activity includes manufacturing and the exporting of high quality wool. The city has close trade ties with Chile, Bolivia and Brazil.
Colca Canyon is a canyon of the Colca River in southern Peru, located about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Arequipa. It is Peru's third most-visited tourist destination with about 120,000 visitors annually. It is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in the United States at 13,650 ft (4,160 m) depth. The Colca Valley is a colorful Andean valley with pre-Inca roots, and towns founded in Spanish colonial times, still inhabited by people of the Collagua and the Cabana cultures. The local people maintain their ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the pre-Inca stepped terraces.
COUNTRYSIDE TOUR
We will pick you up from your hotel around 13:45, then we will visit the surroundings of the city, like Yanahuara view point with its arcs were made out of volcanic stone ( sillar ), then we will go to Carmen Alto view point where you can observe the amazing Chilina valley, after we will visit the highest viewpoint Sachaca to overview the immense countryside of Arequipa, also we will visit founder`s Mansión It was a colonial house of the founder of Arequipa, Sabandía’s mill where the corn of the zone was grinded , because agriculture was always important in the region, we will back to plaza de armas of Arequipa approximately at 17:00.
