The Inca Jungle Trail is a truly spectacular adventure that goes off the beaten track in the Andes Mountains-Cusco and through the beginning of the Peruvian cloud forest and the rainforest, ending at one of the world ‘s wonder: Machu Picchu. This trek is quite tough but you will be rewarded with the spectacular views of snow-capped mountains such a Veronica (5,860m/19,337ft), great green valleys, stunning canyons, amazing ruins and original Inca trails. This 4 day trek is a combination of biking, rafting and trekking, which then takes you to LLACTAPATA, from where we may enjoy the great angles views of the magnificent Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu mountains and the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu (Inca city)

ITINERARY

Day 1: CUSCO-OLLANATAYTAMBO-ABRA MALAGA –SANTA MARIA (BIKING).

Our adventure starts at 06:00am(Time in peru). We will depart in our private transport to Ollantaytambo for breakfast, then we drive by bus uphill to reach Abra Malaga pass (4,350m/14,357ft), where we have a few minutes to prepare ourselves with our biking equipment before we start our 3 hours journey of cycle downhill towards Santa Maria (1,500m/4,950ft), enjoying the different micro-climates such as: high land, cloud forest, rain forest and the two stunning archaeological sites of Incatambo and Wamanmarca.
In the afternoon we will be able to raft in the Urubamba River for two hours, then back to our hostel for high tea and dinner.

Day 2: SANTA MARIA-COCALMAYO-SANTA TERESA (TREKKING)

Today after an early breakfast we walk for seven hours through the rainforest enjoying a myriad of fruit plantations such as: avocados, maniocs, oranges, mangoes, cacao, coffee and coca shrubs. Arriving at Quellomayu for lunch, we then walk up a moderate hill through the original Inca trail towards the hot springs of Cocalmayu. Ones we arrive, we will be for a while enjoying the medicinal hot springs and relaxing after our long walk. Afterwards we take the bus to Santa Teresa where we spend the night.

Day 3: SANTA TERESA – LLACTAPATA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES.

Today is the toughest and most beautiful day of our trek. After breakfast we take the bus for 30 minutes to Lucmabamba (2,000m/6,600ft), where we start walking up a moderate hill for 3 hours through the original Inca trail and the Andean cloud forest towards the Puncuyoc pass, then we descend for 20 minutes to Llactapata 2,700m/8,907ft (Inca site located straight in front of the citadel of Machu Picchu),The panoramic views from this place are breath taking; you can see different angles of the citadel of Machu Picchu, the mountains of Machu picchu and Huayna Picchu, and the Aobamba canyon, where another Inca trail can be seen. Then we descend by foot for two hours, arriving to Hidroelectrica for lunch, afterwards we walk for two hours through the National Park of Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes enjoying the amazing location of the citadel of Machu Picchu and the wall which is surrounding it.

Day 4: AGUAS CALIENTES –MACHU PICCHU-CUSCO.

After an early breakfast we leave our hostel to take the bus for the journey up to the Machu Picchu ruins. Once there we will visit one of the most important mystic centers of the world: Machu Picchu. A three hour guided tour will transmit us into the history around this mysterious and charming ruin. After the guided tour we have plenty of time for further exploring, taking photos and the option to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain or up to the Sun Gate, before we head back to Aguas Calientes for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon we take the return train to Ollantaytambo with private bus connection to Cusco.
